I'm knitting my son Tom a fair isle jumper.  It was at his request and although he is very enthusiastic about it - I have a sinking feeling that this jumper isn't ever going to be worn.  Not because he won't like it (he's not got a choice about that!) - but because it will take me so long to knit it'll be out of fashion by the time I finish.
